Introduction

This programme provides participants with an introduction to the principles and practices of professional translation. Participants will learn fundamental translation concepts, develop basic translation techniques, understand common challenges and apply practical methods for producing clear and accurate translations.

Objectives

1. Analyze source texts and choose a clear translation strategy for register, tone, and audience.
2. Produce accurate, fluent translations that preserve meaning and intended style.
3. Use a CAT tool to manage translation memory, glossaries, and project files.
4. Create and maintain bilingual glossaries and termbases to ensure consistency.
5. Apply QA checks and edit translations using standard error-checking protocols and client feedback.
